Note: Case outcomes depend on facts, documentation, and SARS processes. Rapid-Tax-Relief focuses on defensible, well-structured submissions and clear evidence packs.
Short, practical guidance to help you understand what SARS is asking for and what evidence typically matters.
A SARS dispute is usually a structured process: confirm the notice and deadlines, assemble evidence, reconcile the numbers to source records, and submit a clear, defensible response through the correct mechanism.
The fix is usually a disciplined evidence pack: reconciliations, delivery proof, supplier confirmations where appropriate, and clean schedules.
Common triggers include mismatches, unusual patterns, documentation gaps, and third-party data differences. Audit readiness is about reconciliations and proof.
Penalties and interest depend on the category, timing, and facts. Dispute strategy typically focuses on documentary proof, statutory alignment, and completeness of disclosure.
This matters because outcomes depend on evidence and proper process. If the foundation isn’t there, we won’t gamble with your case.
The examples below reflect structured, evidence-based representations delivered in complex tax matters.
SARS assessed the taxpayer on the full amount of income received, alleging a liability of R207 million. Our technical review identified that legitimate expenses incurred in the production of that income had not been taken into account. We compiled and submitted a fully substantiated evidentiary schedule supporting the deductibility of those expenses. Following formal representation and technical engagement, the assessment was revised and reduced to R37 million.
SARS reassessed the taxpayer for VAT exceeding R40 million on the basis that supplier documentation did not reflect the company’s VAT registration number. We obtained corroborating supplier records confirming delivery and the underlying commercial substance of the transactions. Applying the principle of substance over form, supported by documentary evidence, we demonstrated that the transactions satisfied VAT recognition requirements. SARS reversed its position, resulting in a refund exceeding R43 million, with penalties withdrawn and interest recalculated in the taxpayer’s favour.
Through structured technical reviews across multiple taxpayers, we identified lawful opportunities to optimise tax positions by aligning remuneration frameworks and deductible expenses with statutory requirements. Each engagement involved analysis, disciplined documentation, and compliant submission strategies. Collectively, these matters resulted in more than R20 million in refunds secured for clients.
Note: Case outcomes depend on facts, documentation, and SARS processes. Rapid-Tax-Relief focuses on defensible submissions and clean evidence packs.
We assess the SARS request, scope, deadlines, and the fact pattern. We confirm what must be proven.
We isolate the risk drivers: mismatches, documentation gaps, reconciliations, or technical interpretation issues.
We prepare schedules and a structured narrative that ties your position to evidence and statutory principles.
We submit within deadlines using the correct route and formatting to reduce the chance of rework.
We track the case and respond to follow-up queries with structure: evidence, schedule, clarity.
If the matter requires escalation, we proceed with disciplined next steps based on facts and statutory options.
